UTME and direct entry candidates for the 2024/2025 admission exercise at Ekiti State University (EKSU)
Ekiti State University (EKSU) is set to commence the screening process for both UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) and direct entry candidates who have applied for admission into the university for the 2024/2025 academic session. This exercise will begin on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and it is crucial for all interested applicants to take note.
The university has announced that there will be no examination involved in this screening process. Instead, it will focus on evaluating the qualifications and credentials of the candidates. UTME candidates who did not initially choose EKSU as their first choice institution but scored 140 and above in the 2023 UTME examination will be considered for admission, provided they are willing to change their institution of first choice to EKSU through the JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) CAPS platform.
Additionally, the university will grant concessions to successful students from its Pre-Degree and JUBEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) programmes, in line with the approval of the university senate. However, candidates who are still awaiting the results of their SSSC (Senior Secondary School Certificate) examinations are advised not to apply for this screening exercise and should instead apply as soon as their SSSC results are released.
It is important to note that EKSU has set specific minimum UTME scores for certain programs: Mass Communication (180), Medical Laboratory Science (220), Nursing (220), Law (240), and Medicine (MBBS) (250). Candidates who have lower scores in any of these programs may still apply for the PUTME (Post-UTME) screening and consider other courses of their choice, effecting the change on the JAMB CAPS platform to be considered for admission.
The university also accepts JUPEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) qualifications, with a minimum of 7 points, but does not accept IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) qualifications for admission.
To apply for the 2024/2025 UTME/DE (Direct Entry) screening, candidates are required to follow a set of instructions:
1. Visit the EKSU admissions portal at eksuportal.eksu.edu.ng, click on "Admission," and proceed to the online application platform.
2. Create an account by providing the required details, ensuring that a valid email address and personal phone number are provided, as a verification email will be sent.
3. After successful sign-up, log in using the correct email address or JAMB registration number as the "username" and the password provided during sign-up.
4. On the dashboard, select the "2024/2025 PUTME application" option.
5. For UTME applicants who initially chose EKSU, their information will be automatically populated, and they can proceed to fill in the other details. Applicants who did not choose EKSU as their first choice will need to fill in all their correct details, starting with their JAMB registration number.
6. The next step involves payment for the PUTME screening form, which can be done online.
7. After successful payment, the application form will be opened, and candidates must attach a 1" x 1" colored passport photograph with a red background in JPEG format.
8. Candidates must also upload details of their 'O' Level results obtained in not more than two sittings, including WAEC/SSCE, NECO, and NABTEB.
9. Once all the processes are complete, candidates should preview, confirm, submit, and print out the completed screening form.
Regarding eligibility, EKSU will only admit candidates who have obtained a minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/NECO/NABTEB examinations, at not more than two (2) sittings. For direct entry candidates, the requirements include a minimum of Upper Credit from polytechnics for engineering programs and a minimum of Lower Credit for other programs. Additionally, for MBBS and Law programs, direct entry candidates must possess a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division in related programs, and for Nursing Science, the candidate must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria as a Registered Nurse (RN) and have an NCE with Credit/Merit in relevant teaching subjects.
