Kwara State University (KWASU) Expands Academic Offerings with Approval of New Faculty of Allied Health Sciences

In a significant move to strengthen its academic offerings, the Kwara State University (KWASU) has granted approval for the creation of a new Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. This development was announced during the official visit of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and the university management team to the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences and Pure and Applied Sciences on Monday, July 22, 2024.

The visit began with the Vice-Chancellor's stop at the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, where he was warmly welcomed by the Dean, Professor M.S. Ajao. Professor Ajao took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of the faculty and areas for improvement.

The team then proceeded to the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, where they were received by Professor Mohammed Abubakar Sidiq, the Dean of the faculty. The Vice-Chancellor's address during the visits was marked by his appreciation for the staff's support and his pledge to sustain the university's open-door leadership style.

Notably, the Vice-Chancellor described the visit to the Basic Medical Sciences as a "2 in 1 visit," revealing that the approval for the creation of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences was granted at the last Senate sitting of the institution. This strategic move aims to further diversify and enhance the university's academic offerings, catering to the growing demand for specialized healthcare education.

In his address, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh encouraged all staff members to continue supporting his administration, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining the university's open-door leadership approach. This decision is expected to pave the way for the establishment of the new Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, which will undoubtedly contribute to the overall academic growth and development of Kwara State University.
