The Programmable Integrated Sensors and Microsystems (PRISM) Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking outstanding PhD/Master’s students as of July 2025.

 

The goal of the project is to develop high-resolution microfabrication processes for microsystems, including flexible sensors and liquid metal microfluidic systems.

 

Dr. Pegah Pezeshkpour. Director of the PRISM Lab, leads interdisciplinary research at the interface of engineering and materials science to develop scalable and reconfigurable microsystems using advanced microfabrication processes and novel materials for applications in health, energy monitoring devices, and assistive technologies.

 

Lab members have access to state-of-the-art fabrication, testing, and characterization facilities in a collaborative research environment.

University of Alberta Scholarship 2025 Requirements:

To be considered for the University of Alberta Scholarship, you must;

 

A completed Bachelor’s/Master’s of Science (or Engineering) degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Keen interest in, and/or experience (research, industrial) in the fabrication of microsystems.

Proven ability to work independently and as a team player, with strong problem-solving skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills

A cover letter outlining their related research experience, and describing how they can contribute to interdisciplinary research projects

A CV, highlighting academic or professional achievements, lab trainings, related publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences, awards and certificates, and a list of three references.

Graduate transcripts

Copies of the first page of relevant publications, if available

Selected candidates will be involved in;

 

Conducting research in the abovementioned areas as a full-time PhD/Master’s student

Writing manuscripts for publication and knowledge dissemination in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences, and research scholarship applications.
