A male student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awkaย has been confirmed dead after he jumped from a three-storey building and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
The incident occurred at a lodge close to the universityโs gate.
Residents of the area said the student apparently consumed hard drugs before jumping from the building
According to the neighbours, there was a loud noise, following which they rushed to the scene only to find the victimโs body lying in a pool of blood.
It was discovered that the studentโs roommate was also under the influence of the same substance, as he was found in an incoherent state in their room.
It was gathered that the roommate was kept in police custody and would be questioned once he stabilised.
The identity of the deceased had not been disclosed at press time yesterday, and the police were said to be working to reach the family while investigation into the incident continued
