The Federal Ministry of Education and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have partnered to strengthen the fight against drug abuse among Nigerian students.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), revealed plans for compulsory drug integrity tests in tertiary institutions, a review of the secondary school curriculum to include drug education, and the establishment of more rehabilitation centres, including one in each geopolitical zone.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, pledged full support, directing UBEC and TETFUND to collaborate with the NDLEA Academy in Jos, while a new Substance Use Prevention Unit has been launched to promote awareness in schools.
