The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has scrapped its Post-UTME test for the 2025/2026 session and will now use an O’Level Point Tally System to screen candidates.
The Registrar, Dr. Chukwuka Icha, said the move aims to ease the financial and travel stress students face while ensuring fairness and transparency through direct verification of results.
While some stakeholders praised the new approach as student-friendly, others raised concerns about possible result manipulation, stressing the need for strict verification.
This shift marks one of the boldest admission reforms in recent years, with UNICAL positioning itself as a pioneer in simplifying the admission process.
