The National Industrial Court in Lagos has ordered the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to reinstate Mr. Bamisaye Olutola, a former lecturer whose employment was terminated in 2021 over a s3ual har3me*nt allegation.
The court ruled that UNILAG acted unlawfully, stating Olutola’s appointment was valid and that due process wasn’t followed before his suspension and dismissal.
Justice Ikechi Nweneka directed the university to reinstate him with full benefits, pay all outstanding salaries from August 2021, and continue payments going forward.
The court also barred UNILAG from interfering with his job and awarded him ₦750,000 as legal costs.
