The Federal Government has clarified that it never signed any binding agreement with ASUU, stating that the much-talked-about 2021 document was only a draft.
Education Minister, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said a committee has now been set up to prepare a counter-proposal for the union, while ASUU insists it was not formally invited to the ministry’s recent meeting.
This renewed disagreement highlights the fragile state of talks over the long-standing 2009 agreement, with fears that unresolved issues could once again lead to disruptions in universities.
