GBOKO POLYTECHNIC SECURES FULL NBTE ACCREDITATION FOR 8 ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full accreditation to eight academic programmes at Gboko Polytechnic following a successful accreditation visitation conducted between April 21 and 23, 2025. The approval, which takes effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, is valid for a period of five years and is expected to run until the next scheduled visitation in September 2030.
In a formal communication signed by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, the Board confirmed that the approved programmes have met the required academic and infrastructural standards for accreditation. The decision marks a significant development in the institution’s efforts to expand its academic offerings and improve its compliance with national technical education benchmarks.
The accredited programmes and their approved student intake capacities are as follows:
National Diploma (ND) in Computer Science – 1 stream of 60 students
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Library and Information Science – 1 stream of 60 students
HND in Statistics – 1 stream of 80 students
ND in Accountancy – 2 streams of 80 students per stream
HND in Accountancy – 1 stream of 60 students
HND in Business Administration and Management – 1 stream of 80 students
ND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology – 1 stream of 60 students
ND in Computer Engineering Technology – 1 stream of 60 students
The NBTE emphasized that the institution must adhere strictly to the approved number of streams and student capacity in each programme. Any deviation from the stipulated limits may affect the validity of the accreditation.
Gboko Polytechnic is expected to continue maintaining the standards that led to this approval and ensure quality in the delivery of its academic programmes.
