A total of 1,367,210 candidates are currently writing the 2025 NECO SSCE across Nigeria, with the exam being conducted in both CBT and paper formats for the first time.
NECO Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, said the council is ready for full CBT transition despite some infrastructure challenges.
The pilot phase is ongoing in select centres like SASCON International School in Abuja.
Kano has the highest number of candidates with over 137,000, while Kebbi has the lowest, just above 5,000. NECO says the shift to CBT will help reduce exam malpractice and improve the quality of results and certificates.
