The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has been officially dissolved following the expiration of the tenure of its appointed members.
The university’s Student Affairs Department took the decision to dissolve the current SUG to prevent any activities by the outgoing body from being deemed illegal, as their tenure had already lapsed.
The department has announced plans to conduct new SUG elections through an online platform to appoint new officeholders.
Consequently, the previously scheduled COOU Students Week, set for May 5-8, 2026, has been cancelled. A new date for the event will be announced following the completion of the upcoming SUG elections.
