FirstBank, West Africa’s leading financial institution and a key player in financial inclusion, has introduced a facial biometric feature on its mobile banking platform, FirstMobile, as part of a series of major upgrades designed to enhance customer experience and security.
The newly launched biometric capability allows users to securely activate or register on the FirstMobile app using facial recognition technology. The upgrade is equipped with advanced anti-spoof detection mechanisms to ensure heightened protection of customer accounts.
According to thereafter bank, this innovative feature is tailored to meet the needs of a wide range of customers, including new account holders, diaspora clients without access to bank cards, individuals with lost or expired cards, and those who prefer not to use cards or have difficulty with card verification.
The new functionality grants seamless access to essential services such as fund transfers, bill payments, and other core banking features, ensuring fast and reliable transaction processing.
