The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has begun the nationwide accreditation of 848 Computer-Based Test centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The exercise, announced by JAMB and commenced on Monday, December 15, is part of the Board’s early preparations to ensure standardisation, security, and technical readiness ahead of the examination.
The accreditation comes amid sustained efforts by JAMB to curb examination malpractice, improve centre quality, and strengthen public confidence in the UTME process.
Here are important things every JAMBite should know
1. JAMB Profile Code
You must create your profile code before registration.
Use the same phone number throughout the JAMB process.
Any mistake in name or date of birth can affect admission.
2. Correct Subject Combination
Choose subjects relevant to your course.
Wrong combination = automatic disqualification, even with high scores.
3. O’Level Results
Ensure your WAEC/NECO/NABTEB subjects meet course requirements.
Upload your O’Level result on the JAMB CAPS portal.
If using awaiting result, remember to upload later.
4. JAMB CAPS is Very Important
Always check CAPS to:
Accept or reject admission
Monitor admission status
Failure to accept admission = loss of admission.
5. Score Alone Is Not Enough
Admission depends on:
JAMB score
Post-UTME
O’Level grades
Catchment area & quota
6. Cut-Off Marks Vary
Each school and course has its own cut-off mark.
Competitive courses (Medicine, Law, Engineering) need higher scores.
7. Choice of Institution Matters
Be realistic with your choices.
Federal > State > Private (in terms of competition).
You can change institution/course if needed.
8. Exam Day Rules
Arrive early at the CBT centre.
