Prof. Segun Aina, the newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), officially assumed office on Monday and introduced a comprehensive five-year strategic plan aimed at enhancing trust, innovation, and technology adoption within the board.
Describing his appointment as “a homecoming and a solemn responsibility,” Prof. Aina pledged to build on the successes of his predecessor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, by strengthening JAMB’s systems and improving service delivery.
The strategic plan, titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” will guide the board’s operations from 2026 to 2031. It is structured around “Project 2:5:7,” which includes two strategic objectives, five key pillars, and seven flagship projects.
“Our vision is to make JAMB Africa’s most trusted, innovative, and accessible assessment and admissions institution,” Prof. Aina stated, emphasizing that the board’s credibility rests on robust systems, institutional values, and enduring partnerships rather than individuals.
The five pillars focus on integrity, service, governance, technology, and partnerships, with initiatives targeting enhanced transparency, customer service, accountability, digital innovation, and collaboration with financial institutions, educational bodies, and international partners.
Key flagship projects include an independent review of JAMB’s technology systems, achieving ISO 27001 information security certification, launching a unified JAMB mobile app, establishing a single customer service platform, implementing paperless digital administration, strengthening public communication, and improving staff welfare and training.
While technology remains central to JAMB’s future, Prof. Aina stressed that people will always come first. “Every registration represents the aspirations of a young Nigerian and the sacrifices of parents and guardians,” he said, vowing to simplify procedures, improve communication, and ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity remain core principles.
He also called on staff to embrace innovation, professionalism, and teamwork to realize the board’s transformative goals.
