The minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa, made the please on behalf of the Federal Government, citing ongoing negotiations between the government and ASUU.
FG intervention has brought a temporary reprieve to Nigerian universities which were bracing for a potential shutdown due to the strike. The government has assured ASUU that it is committed to resolving the outstanding issues and improving the working conditions of the university staffs.
However, for now, it appears that the strike action will soon be put on hold, and academics activities will continue as usual.
